This is a three year program where members work side by side with maintainers assisting with and performing regular work assignments. Members will maintain their current rate of pay, if greater than the apprenticeship rate. They will also be entitled to the general wage and progression increases of their former title until such a time the apprenticeship rate becomes higher or they move into the higher title.

The following departments are part of the apprenticeship agreement:

• Department of Car Equipment (DCE)
• Lighting
• Carpentry
• Plumbing
• Ventilation and Drainage (V&D)
• Elevator and Escalator (E&E)
• Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
• Power
• Signals
